Spotify comes with a cool new feature: a ‘Daylist’ that adapts to your vibe

After the popular personalized playlists, Spotify now also comes with your own ‘Daylist’. That is the name of the music service’s latest automatically generated playlist.

Your Daylist adapts to your mood throughout the day. At least: the mood Spotify thinks you are in at that time of the week.

Unlike Spotify’s existing personalized playlists, such as Discover Weekly, Release Radar and On Repeat, the new Daylist is updated with new songs multiple times throughout the day. According to the streaming service, those songs should ‘reflect your day’. Spotify learns what your mood is at certain times of the week based on your listening behavior. If you have listened to cheerful music more often on some mornings , you will often get similar songs to wake up happy with early in the morning on those days.

Micro-genres

Spotify recently started offering the Niche Mixes feature , which allows you to type in an atmosphere or activity and then receive a customized playlist. The streaming service says that the Daylist looks at the niche music and micro-genres that you often stream at certain times of the day and week. This is also reflected in the ever-changing titles of the Daylists. Spotify gives ‘happy dance energy Friday morning’ and ’90s rave rainforest late night’ as examples.

Daylist will be available to both Premium subscribers and free users, but for now it will only be available in English-speaking countries. The feature will be rolled out globally in the coming months.
